Thank you Silicon Beach Film Festival for the Official Selection of  Cali Lili’s brilliant first Feature Film : 

“Eve N’ God ; This Female is Not Yet Rated.” 

I was so glad to see this outstanding film nominated and awarded as a highly deserving Contender. Cali and I are happy to have participated in your event at the legendary Mann’s Chinese Theatre on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. 

I’ve made 80 films and “Eve N’ God This Female is Not Yet Rated” is my first Best Actor in a Feature Film Award, for a movie with this much merit.

A two character piece that I was lucky to be cast in, I was not only shocked and honored to receive the award and thrilled for Cali, but also genuinely surprised that this innovative film hasn’t yet received even more acknowledgment, especially in the categories of Best Actress and Best Director – YET. 

Like I told Cali after I saw her work and work ethics on a set and her dailies in an editing room – she’s not only got something rare, but the camera loves her and people will discover her unique genius like I did, with great surprise, because they’ve never seen anyone like her before. 

I’m not exaggerating when I say we’ve been hearing from audiences organizing watch parties to see this film for a third time and discuss it afterwards. I’m no longer surprised.

So I hope this award brings even wider attention to this screen “GEM” and I’d like to take this opportunity to properly acknowledge my multitalented co-star and director, Cali Lili. 

Working with an actress of this caliber is a dream come true. With range & ferocity Cali took the mind of an Einstein and put it into the body of a Barbie when she played the role of “Eve,” even before there was a Barbie movie. My only wish is that this award, which could not have been possible without Cali’s performance in front of and behind the camera, will bring even more attention and appreciation for her little masterpiece, an Oscars 2020 Contender no less. 

Dear Cali, 

As an actor, working with you as actress and director, it was such a genuine pleasure dancing with you and I’m gonna give you the best compliment I think any actor can give another actor, which is this : 

You elevate me. 

You elevated me into my “A – game” up in that space that’s very rare – without all the baggage, without all the problems of life, you know, money, politics, the people that criticize or praise you, the people that acknowledge or dismiss you. 

We got rid of all that B.S up there just dancing with each other, in step, like Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers.

I can’t thank you enough, you really ARE – the Best Actress.  

The thing that really irritates me is how hard it is for a girl as multi-talented as you to be granted the rightful acknowledgment you’ve so righteously earned. 

I watched you day after day, working for every word, sometimes finding you still joyfully working at 2 am, 3 am, jumping like a cheerleader when you found the right dialogue for these amazing roles.

I watched you gather a crew together and sift through resumes to find just the right team, which turned out to be an all female production crew, which I think was the first or at least one of the first female crews. I watched you raise the money & make the locations happen on the spot. Watched you write the songs, sing them and produce the soundtrack which became your debut album now played all over the world. 

I’ve experienced you directing me with such a delicate hand that I felt safe to be so vulnerable in this role. As I’ve said before, you’re in my top 3 directors and I’ve worked with some of the best. 

Even though there have been blood sweat and tears on the way – you still make it look so easy because you are blessed with so many talents. You did all this stuff, put it together so we could all shine – including you – who shined us all into the most innovative feature film that’s so ahead of its time it’s still getting discovered. 

You will continue to be discovered too. I told you before – just like that great set of gams you dance with – this film – and your career – “got LEGS” —  

I and others continue to be inspired by your monster work ethic – yet you manage to look gorgeous and dish out outstanding performances  –

and after all that — 

they give —  ME —  an award for squirting out a few lines of dialogue. 

I now realize what you’ve been saying all along: That’s what this film is all about! How ironic that the film asks this question of us all : 

“why is it still so hard for girls and women to be granted the rightful acknowledgement they’ve so righteously earned? “ 

I hope this award encourages people to really see the film more than once, as some reviews have mentioned.  People all over the world have told us they are having watch parties with group discussions. 

There is no question, this award is not just for me. 

Bears repeating, this movie is a two character piece. 

This Award belongs to you too, Cali. 

This performance is what we created together, like Fred & Ginger, and I continue to be in awe at how you can “dance backwards in high heels,” just like Ginger did. 

You did great, kid.
