with one simple installation that acknowledges the hidden, but devastating damage to the dignity of the human soul – the true eradication of a people – takes place on the inside …

I made a movie that deals with – pretty much everything today’s global cultures are grappling to heal – racism, sexism, homophobia + climate denial –
but, up until recently, I hadn’t mentioned that 2 main characters in the film – are actually never in the same room throughout the entire two hour movie.
The week I first published this essay was an appropriate one to explore that aspect – which sought to discover ways in which living beings persevere to always find meaning and – poignancy – even as we communicate beyond arbitrary boundaries.

l continue to be struck by the parallel nature of covid-19 virus + the behaviors we must adopt, then adapt to shield ourselves from it.
Once again, the mirrors in between micro + macro might hold meaning in such reflection?
Just as our walls are permeated and controlled by membranes (include Zoom) – so too are our cell walls.
I don’t pretend to do science.

what if the cures originate in reverse engineering the protective behaviors we as “host” might need to use for shielding?
But first, don’t we need to identify the truth about the origins of this pathogen? In a climate dominated by lies , that seems extra important.
Here too, truth matters.
My movie and this essay are not science. Again, Just thinking.
My thesis for this part of the movie, was actually my exploration of the word #cellular or “cell.” The outer membrane of a #cell (varying from cell2cell™) both protects the cell but is ALSO often a permeable – “cell-phone” – mode of #transmission which is – of course – #communication + further interesting – is the fact that we call our phones – a principal means of communication / togetherness – “cells” even while – “cells” are a means of both incarceration and #quarantine … Cells have walls that talk, don’t they …
My fascination for the metaphorical “walls” that separate the two characters in my movie – but which also serve as a “means” for communication / transmission – seems so exceptionally poignant this first week of #covid19 awareness in America …
As my anxiety, like that of many – is definitely active whenever I fully attend to “what’s happening” – i find myself rediscovering my film, in ways I had hoped fellow cinephiles would do.

As with many events these days, it’s likely we won’t forget where we were when a certain thing happened in 2020 … When I heard about Kobe+Gigi – I wasn’t far from where it happened and tho my first instinct was to hope it was a hoax, I heard a flock of very loud Canadian geese flying mightily nearby + my heart thought … maybe they’re hitching a ride and we’ll see them again someday.

As we take our baby steps forward … – just as we were relaxing for the holidays – we were alerted to trolls posting lies and fake reviews about the project where-ever they can 🙄 – most recently on Amazon – and then “following” our account posing as Jeff Bezos 🙄 …
Since we found out that we are on the List of Eligible Contenders for an #Oscars2020 nomination – yay – GRANTED – we KNOW we are a LONG shot for a nom – it’s a first film for us, and we are so tiny – running with the big productions – many good films from studios etc …
However …. – even as a ” #DarkHorse candidate – it’s a wonderful opportunity for the project and all involved, for the work to get seen … I’m no egomaniac – but – this is a good film and I’m proud of it — and of the team …
RIGHT NOW : is SUCH a crucial time – where these trolls can really affect us – we’ve had GREAT reviews so far – which is why they went into action … –
it’s a crucial time for the film to be viewed fairly by the Academy Voters – especially during the #Holidays – Voting begins January 2 and ends January 7th … so – added “trolling” is obviously a conscious attempt to harm us ( and me ) – it’d be awesome if anyone reading this might help us in reporting the abusive comments and the accounts targeting us.
– and – if you like stuff about the movie + soundtrack – it would go such a long way toward countering these online evils, with positive reviews – that would help us and – this project – a ton ~ we made it to spread JOY and LOVE – so we wish for it to multiply … even in the face of negativity …
The project champions feminist, lgbtq, black lives matter and climate change causes, and I am personally outspoken – so it’s to be expected – however, it is not deserved and a better online community will result from us all pushing back against such obvious attempts to harm the project.
The film also attempts to “shatter” not only #glassceilings but also “Sound Barriers” on a variety of levels – by “breaking” some “cinematic rules” – so it’s not a “typical” movie – because – I didn’t set out to make anything “typical.”
Since day one – in 2011 when I began posting Job Openings requesting that we were especially hoping to receive #Resumes from #Women , persons in the #LGBTQ + #AfricanAmerican community – with the intent of a #Diversity based #FemaleCrew for a project that deals with these issues as well as #MeToo and #ClimateEmergency way back in 2011 – we experienced shocking pushback – JUST from the Adverts alone ! Just – for a diversity based – job opening ! – from those who don’t like to see the world healing from racism, sexism, homophobia and climate denial. Unfortunately, in the entertainment industry – some of these things come from competitors or personal disgruntlement. Sigh. 🙄
We would SO appreciate it – if everybody helps us push back at these creeps, by clicking “report abuse” and even reporting the accounts posting these obviously sometimes personally motivated, often politically motivated, homophobic, misogynist and racist lies / abuses.

Variety Posts Academy Of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences List of Contenders for 2020 Oscars :
We are hearing a lot about the failings of social media platforms and to be sure – like humans – like democracy – these platforms are not perfect.
They’re vulnerable to abuse.
Like us.
There’s a problem with Big Money Media Telcoms – especially journalism and news – enlisting us in ‘blaming the messenger’ even though we definitely need Big Media to do it’s job (for which they are far better paid than newsprint journalists ) and amplify the message – that our culture and our democracy is under assault from disinformation.
Amplification on a wide scale is one of the really “Good Samaritan” things that the quality Big Media outlets like MSNBC + NPR can do “For The People.”
However when they use their big megaphone to talk down what is arguably their “competition” : namely social media platforms –
That’s Unseemly because it smacks of antitrust issues – and we can see that additional increments of abuse in that 1 percenter marketplace are taking place daily – without the TV news journalism taking on this topic as it pertains to Big Media.
What’s even more disturbing – is seeing excellent , ethical, democratic politicians – becoming enlisted by big media – in the “blame the messenger” soapbox – when anyone with a modicum of experience with online + social media platforms – knows – it’s not as simple as “blaming Facebook” ( who happens to be the competitor of big media).
Besides cooperating with – and helping social media with – coordinating security + regulation on every platform … –
It seems to us, after many discussions – that We ALSO need MANY MORE democrats + Well-Meaning-Citizens to get on Twitter + Facebook etc so they can add to the conversation –
We think we should be wary of turning people off to greatest Communication Tool combining Phone, Mega-Phone + PrintingPress
We can invite more People-Power everywhere into the arena to play a 21st Century civic-duty role as ” Good Samaritans Online ” contributing #positivity – Fact-Checking + reporting of unhealthy behaviors in the spirit of the positive-thinking origins of the internet :
